Group Therapy for Middle School-Age Children in Illinois
At Sana Mind PLLC, we offer group therapy specifically designed for children transitioning into middle school—a stage that brings new responsibilities, changing friendships, and greater academic demands. This group helps children build essential CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) skills to manage emotions, improve coping, and strengthen resilience.
As a licensed school social worker with over five years of experience in schools and therapeutic settings, I have worked with children across a wide range of needs, including those with high acuity. I understand the ins and outs of 504 plans and IEP plans, and I bring that knowledge into therapy to support both children and families in navigating academic, social, and emotional challenges.
Children tend to build rapport with me quickly because I provide a safe, fun, and non-traditional style of therapy that kids naturally gravitate toward. I believe therapy for children should feel approachable, engaging, and even enjoyable—never something they dread.
Being a middle schooler today is complex. With the pressures of academics, social media, and rapidly changing identities, children often experience anxiety, sadness, or stress. In group therapy, they discover they’re not alone, while practicing tools for self-esteem, communication, emotional regulation, and problem-solving.
At Sana Mind PLLC, my approach is always child-centered and empathetic, creating a space where kids feel understood, supported, and empowered to grow.
